L. Frances Caramel Company was founded with one simple goal: make the best old-fashioned caramel we can. Every batch starts in our factory in Appleton, Wisconsin, in the heart of America's Dairyland, where exceptional dairy products are abundant and provide the foundation for the rich flavor that defines our caramels. With thoughtful attention to detail at every step, we create a product that stands apart.

Nineteen Years Later

From our beginning in Appleton, Wisconsin, we set out to create products that captured the warmth and quality of a true old-fashioned candy store while building a company capable of serving customers and retailers across the country. Nineteen years later, that philosophy still guides everything we do. We continue to make our caramel in small batches using traditional methods, carefully selected ingredients, and the kind of patience great confectionery requires. Our wrapped caramels are made using traditional artisan caramel-making methods and the finest simple ingredients. Each batch is slowly cooked in copper kettles, a process that allows the cream to develop exceptionally deep caramel flavor and a beautiful golden hue. Once finished, each caramel is individually wrapped in clear cellophane so its rich color is visible even before the first bite. Soft, fresh, and delicately melt-in-your-mouth, our caramels are a true expression of old-fashioned quality and craftsmanship.
